OTTAWA

The Ottawa Storytellers promote the art of storytelling, nurture and inspire novice and experienced storytellers, and provide tellers and listeners with opportunities to share and enjoy stories.

Monthly story swaps are held at the Library and Archives of Canada, 395 Wellington Street, on the first Thursday and the third Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m.. Admission is free and the public is invited to come hear and tell stories.

The Tea Party Café hosts storyTellers on the Second and Fourth Tuesday of the month at The Tea Party, 119 York Street on the Market, in downtown Ottawa, A donation of $5 is suggested.

The first hour of the meeting will showcase Jan’s telling of The Stone Book – taken from Alan Garner’s classic tale set in rural England in the 18th century. "I have been a teller for more than twenty years," says Jan. "Few stories have meant as much to me." Listeners will be "touched by the strength and dignity of the characters, the power of the language used to conjure the tale." This will be a wonderful way to conclude your holiday weekend!

*There is no admission fee for members. Tea and goodies are included.
