| The StorySave quilt has become quite a tradition with Storytellers of Canada/Conteurs du Canada. The first quilt was made
in 2002 by T.A.L.E.S. (The Alberta Association for Telling and Encouraging Storytelling) as a project to raise money for SC-CC's
StorySave project.
Raffle tickets were sold at a number of events and at the national conference. It was such a success that Pearl-Ann Gooding called upon storytellers
across the country to contribute a square to the next quilt. There has been a quilt every year since then except in 2005, when
a Silent Auction was held instead at the conference in Calgary.
Here you can see Pearl Ann in action on the left, rallying people at the
Annual Meeting in Halifax to buy tickets.
Pearl Ann challenged everyone to help reach the target of $1000 worth of tickets sold, and aided and abetted by Mary-Eileen McClear of Baden, Ontario (right), Pearl-Ann is hard to resist.
Not only was the target met, but exceeded. The 2006 quilt raised $1140 for StorySave and the happy winner:
well, it was our webperson, Elinor Benjamin |

The Quilt would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of Pearl-Ann. A big Thank You to Pearl Ann for all her hard work coordinating and assembling the quilt. Here is Pearl-Ann in her wonderful "Family Ties" Jacket tailored by her mother with ties collected from family members. It is a coat of many stories. |
