This three day Master Class provides an opportunity to work with these two master storytellers on a journey of exploration.

This three day master class is aimed at tellers who have been performing for a number of years. Registration will be limited to 10 participants. Participants will be selected on the basis of résumés. Submit your résumé or questions to jandrews@magma.ca

Jan Andrews

Jan Andrews
One of Canada’s foremost tellers, Jan has spent the last twenty years honing her storytelling skills in performance settings across the country and beyond. Strongly committed to traditional material, she is the founder of a series of epic tellings in Ottawa and Artistic Director of the Ottawa Storytellers series at the Fourth Stage of the National Arts Centre. She has served as National Coordinator for SC-CC and is currently director of the organization’s StorySave project. Dedicated to promoting professional development and artistic excellence in herself and others, she is an experienced and sensitive workshop leader well-versed in the means of pinpointing difficulties and proposing possible solutions while offering continued encouragement.

Jennifer Cayley

Jennifer CayleyAlso a teller of much experience and a specialization in traditional material, Jennifer’s particular contribution to the master class comes out of her personal commitment to explorations in terms of voice and movement work. She attended a six week course at the Roy Hart International Voice Centre in Malléragues, France, in 2002 and participated in the five week National Voice Intensive, directed by David Smukkler, at the University of British Columbia in 2006.
