A little history

Founded in 1993, after SC-CC began with a national meeting in Montreal instigated by Rosalyn Cohen. Since then, an annual national conference has been held in a different location across Canada. In 2000, the Storytellers of Canada/Conteurs du Canada was incorporated as a non-profit organization and registered as a National Arts Service Organization.

SC-CC functions as national representative for those involved in maintaining and practising oral traditions in Canada

This privilege is bestowed in a special ceremony at the conference following their departure from office. It is a requirement that the recipient of this symbol receive it in person, for obvious reasons.
