Guidelines for Submissions to Appleseed Quarterly

Submissions are welcome from anyone! Unfortunately, we cannot pay for submissions, but copyright is retained by the writer and extra free copies are available on request!

Articles are welcome in both English and French, and there are separate copy editors for both languages.

Stories submitted for publication must be copyright free or in the public domain or must have permission from the copyright holder to publish.

Reprints are welcome but must meet the other publication criteria.

Articles, stories, interviews with storytellers, extended reviews of performances, tapes, CD’s and books are regularly published. Practical articles (how-to’s) are especially welcome!

Articles should be more than news. News items suitable for Le raconteur or Pippin would be a short report on a specific event. If a submission seems more appropriate for another publication, we will forward the submission to that publication and contact you about it.
We are currently looking for articles on how to teach storytelling to various groups, how to organize and implement a storytelling workshop, how to plan a festival and how to raise funds and the like.

Articles usually range from 750 to 3000 words.

Articles should address the art of storytelling in any area: education, therapy, creation and performance, folklore, oral history and business to name a few. Articles on theoretical and practical topics are welcome.

The deadlines for publication are June 1st, August 1st, November 1st, and March 1st. If not enough copy is received by the 15th of the month of the deadline, the issue will be cancelled. This is your publication! Please submit items for publication in either official language or contact the editor through the link on the SC/CC website or that of the Storytellers School of Toronto.
