Michael is a long-time resident of Newfoundland, but he grew up in Country Derry, Ireland and his interest in drama and storytelling was nurtured by being a student of the famous Nobel Poet Seamus Heaney.

Michael came to Newfoundland and he has taught in many of the outports before settling in the St. John's area. He is married to Annette, and their son, Patrick (www.patrickboyle.ca), is a well-known musician in Canada. Michael operates the unique Boyle's historical walking tour of St. John's. He has presented papers to the Canadian Association of Irish Studies. Locally, he ran the very popular coffeee "salon" series for new artists. If you are in St. John's for the Storytelling Conference, be sure and say hello to Mike. Michael is an historian, a poet, and a speaker of Irish Gaelic as well as a storyteller.
