Stéphanie Bénéteau conte professionellement, en français et en anglais, depuis plus de dix ans. Elle conte des histoires du répertoire mondial avec un accent particulier sur les contes de femmes. Elle a créé un spectacle de contes des mille et une nuits, Le Jardin Parfumé, qu’elle a présenté en Europe et qui a reçu une subvention du Conseil des Arts de Montréal. Stéphanie travaille présentemement sur un nouveau spectacle, la légende médiévale de Tristan et Yseult, grâce à une subvention du Conseil des arts et lettres du Québec. Elle travaille beaucoup dans les écoles et a développé un atelier sur le conte qu’elle présente dans le cadre du programme La culture à l’école. Elle possède un vaste répertoire pour jeune public et un arbre généalogique mélangé qui inclut des racines italiennes, québécoises et américaines.

Stéphanie Bénéteau has been telling stories professionally, in English and in French, for more than ten years to audeinces of all ages. She tells stories from around the world, many of them featuring girls and women. She has created a performance of stories from the Arabian nights which she has brought to Europe, and has produced an award-winning CD, Dreaming Tall: Stories for Growing Girls, recipient of a Parents’ Choice Gold Award. Stéphanie works extensively in schools and has developed a unique storytelling workshop which she presents as part of the Culture in Schools program of the Québec government. She is also artistic director of English events for the Québec Intercultural Storytelling Festival. She has a mixed-up heritage of Italian, French Canadian and American, and two daughters who also tell stories; in fact, the three of them toured the show A Houseful of Stories, a family show featuring Stéphanie and her daughters telling stories about families.
