"Let me tell you a story..." is one of my favourite things to say! Discovering the joys of telling stories to young and old is like magic in my life...Stories shared are like butterflies...beauty on gossamer wings. Sharing stories means sharing our soul. What more can we ask?

I have been a storyteller for five years, although it seems that I have been collecting stories and material on how to use them for decades. In my teen years I fell in love with the ancient epics, myths and anything to do with archaeology and digging up the past. Later, when I taught, my young students and I adapted traditional fairy tales-- they rewrote them and performed them.

As a member of the Montreal Storytellers' Guild I participate at their monthly storytelling evenings. I also participated in Montreal's Festival interculturel du conte du Québec which takes place every two years, as well as in the World Storytelling Month activities in various libraries on the island of Montreal.

Lately, I am also a teller in my neighbourhood community centres for after-school programmes and a summer day camp. I volunteered in an Alzheimers unit at a seniors' residence; I have told in an art gallery, and hopefully, if funding goes through, I will be introducing a whole school (in groups!) of English-speaking elementary students to our local neighbourhood library through storytelling and other activities.

My long-term goal is to insinuate myself into a museum to spread the joy of classical mythology by telling stories in the presence of some objects and works of art from those times and places! My love of stories and my conviction that our well-being depends on early and repeated exposure to the arts, and my former work as a teacher, all seem to have led me to pursue this path and to help instill a love of books and stories in children and adults.

Brigitte tells in English, French and German to adults, young adults and children and is willing to travel.
